Summit Pacific Medical Center is a vibrant and expanding public hospital district serving east Grays Harbor County, Washington. It operates a Critical Access Hospital with a Level IV trauma designation, three rural healthcare clinics, and a seven‑day‑a‑week urgent care clinic.


Pay Range


$59.58 – $92.17 per hour.


Job Summary


The Marketing and Public Relations Director articulates Summit Pacific’s narrative and vision, manages media relations, and builds strategic partnerships. The role advances the strategic plan by increasing brand awareness, strengthening relationships, and supporting economic development initiatives. It requires leading a team to execute marketing, communications, events, and community outreach programs.


Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities



  • Serve as the face of Summit Pacific on behalf of executives as requested.

  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to highlight organizational achievements, new services, expansion projects, and quality of care.

  • Establish and maintain strong rapport with local, regional, and specialized media outlets.

  • Represent Summit Pacific at functions and on local boards and committees to foster regional health enhancement.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communications plan aligned with the strategic plan.

  • Oversee digital marketing, social media, website updates, advertising, press releases, newsletters, and internal communications.

  • Direct the creation of all marketing materials (print, video, digital, etc.) and manage the reputation and brand across platforms.

  • Supervise event planning, community outreach, education, and events.

  • Participate in professional groups, associations, work groups, and committees as assigned.

  • Perform special projects and related duties as assigned.

Organizational Responsibilities


Support and uphold Summit Pacific’s mission, vision, and values; comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements; conduct oneself professionally, ethically, and collaboratively.


Required Education and Experience



  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Three years of related professional‑level experience. Healthcare experience preferred.


Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations



  • American Marketing Association (AMA) Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) or equivalent certification preferred.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Broad knowledge of communications, marketing, and advertising methods and tools.

  • Experience in event planning and community outreach programs.

  • Strategic and conceptual thinking with the ability to develop focused tactics.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and mass email software.

  • Project planning and management skills; experience with marketing and communication campaigns.

  • Advanced writing, editing, and graphic design skills.

  • Superior verbal communication and presentation skills for public speaking.

  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external partners and vendors.

  • Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills.

  • Professional composure in sensitive or stressful situations and strict confidentiality.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other common office technology.

  • Process development and documentation skills.

  • Proactive, independent work style with the ability to anticipate needs.
