Data Strategist

swyft, New York, NY, USA

Pay: $80,000-$100,000/yr

Job type: Full Time

Overview
Swyft helps law firms make better, more data-driven decisions by turning messy operational data into clear, actionable dashboards. We work with firm leaders and operators—transforming how they understand caseflow, referrals, team performance, and financial outcomes. We’re looking for a Data Strategist to help our clients build smarter, more measurable practices.

The Role
As a Data Strategist, you'll be the bridge between law firm operations and data-driven insights. You'll lead client discovery sessions, translate business goals into technical requirements, and ensure our dashboards deliver real operational transformation—not just pretty visuals.

This is a strategic role for someone who can think like both a consultant and an analyst. You'll guide multiple client implementations, shape our reporting methodology, and help establish Swyft as the premier legal data partner in the industry.

What You'll Do

Lead client discovery sessions and strategic reporting consultations to understand operational pain points and goals

Translate operational objectives into clear dashboard logic, KPIs, and delivery requirements

Collaborate with data engineers to bring client vision to life through effective requirements documentation

Define success metrics and ensure dashboards align with client business outcomes

Conduct data audits and gap analyses to identify opportunities for improved reporting

Present findings and recommendations to law firm leadership and operations teams

Help evolve Swyft's reporting templates, best practices, and standardized metrics

Serve as a trusted advisor on data strategy to forward-thinking law firms

Build and maintain client relationships through ongoing strategic guidance

Contribute to thought leadership through client success stories and industry insights

You Might Be a Fit, If You

Have 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or strategy in the legal space

Can translate complex business problems into clear, actionable data requirements

Excel at client-facing communication and can present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Understand operational KPIs and how to measure performance, workflow, and intake effectiveness

Think strategically about how data can drive business decisions and operational improvements

Are comfortable managing multiple client engagements simultaneously

Have experience with BI tools (Domo preferred)

Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail in data validation and QA

Can identify patterns and insights that others might miss

Bonus and Preferred Qualifications

Experience with law firms, legal operations, or legal tech systems (Filevine, Clio, etc.)

Background in management consulting or professional services

Knowledge of SQL for data exploration and validation

Experience implementing operational dashboards that changed organizational behavior

Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Proven track record of successful client engagements and measurable business impact

Strong project management skills with ability to handle competing priorities

Experience working with cross-functional teams including engineers, designers, and executives

Portfolio of dashboard projects or case studies demonstrating strategic thinking

What We Offer

Competitive salary range of $80-100k with potential for eligibility in Company Equity Incentive Plan once such a plan is established

Remote-first culture with flexible hours and a fast-moving, low-ego team

Opportunity to join early, shape our methodology, and become a thought leader in legal analytics

Direct exposure to law firm leadership and the chance to drive real operational change

How to Apply
Send us your resume and a brief note about a time you helped an organization make a better decision through data. We'd love to hear about the challenge, your approach, and the impact. Include any relevant dashboard examples or case studies (with sensitive information removed).

Bonus points if you can share insights about what makes legal operations data unique or challenging.
