Senior Reporter

Job Description
The Senior Reporter will work closely with the Executive Editorial Director and brand leadership to help identify and cover news stories that can benefit from original reporting. The reporter will tap into their network of sources to enrich developing news stories, ensuring People publishes deeply reported celebrity content and consistently breaks news in the celebrity world. The role involves contributing ideas, reporting help, and writing across many content areas, with a focus on traffic‑driving content. Entertainment industry contacts are important as the senior reporter may be responsible for booking talent for specific projects.

Essential Job Functions

30% - Reporting and writing stories that will drive traffic, including celebrity interviews.

30% - Collaborating with the executive editor, vertical editors and news director to determine where to invest time and resources on developing news stories and sourcing opportunities.

20% - Writing.

20% - Covering celebrity events or other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism or communications, a related field or equivalent training and/or experience.

Experience: Minimum 12 years of experience.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent digital writing skills; deep knowledge of the celebrity news landscape; an eye for a good story; ability to work well with many people across job functions; knowledge of analytics, SEO and audience engagement; great celebrity contacts and the ability to make friends with anyone; incredible interviewing abilities; strong news instincts.

Travel Required: 0–10% or as assigned.

Pay Range
New York: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00. Los Angeles: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00.

The pay range above represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position and may change in the future. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience and performance. The range listed is one component of People Inc's total compensation package. Other compensation may include annual bonuses and short‑ and long‑term incentives.
