Who You Are
As a Lamp Shade Craftsman, you enjoy working with your hands and seeing a job completed to high standards. You work well within a team environment, and you are punctual. You also like to collaborate towards continuous improvement.

A Day in the Life

Performing any combination of tasks involved in assembly of fabric and paper lamp shades to exacting standards

Fabricate lamp shades following patterns and using scissors, needle and thread, and/or sewing machine to meet client specifications of quality and pattern placement

Apply glue to edges of shade fabric and backs of shade attachments, such as collars, ornaments and trimmings

Fold glued edges of fabric around wire frame and press attachments onto fabric

Secure shade to frame by stringing cord through shade perforations and lacing cord around frame rings

Wind tape spirally over the upper and lower rings of the frame to form a foundation for attaching the material

Coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure quality, cost and delivery of shades meet client expectations

Perform all duties in a safe, organized and efficient manner

Will be required to cross‑train into other Fulfillment Center areas including glass operations, paint mixing, painting shades and packing

What Will Set You Up For Success

A high school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience in lampshade assembly, sewing or working with textiles is preferred.

You enjoy solving problems. You love taking on difficult challenges and finding solutions.

You’ve got fine motor skills and the ability to work with small parts.

You can manage your time and prioritize meeting production deadlines.

You’re a flexible team player, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done.

You have technical aptitude and the ability to read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints.

You have basic computer skills (e‑mail, internet, and Microsoft Office).

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time

Ability to wear PPE as required

This position will be located at our brand new, state of the art Ashley River Campus (ARC).
