Business Development Manager – Alternative Investments
A boutique UK venture capital firm is seeking a Business Development Manager to generate new business from financial advisers across the Midlands and or the Southwest.

This is a purely intermediary/advisory-focused role, working closely with financial advisers. As a boutique business, the firm offers larger regional coverage, realistic targets and a highly supportive but hands‑off management culture, giving you the autonomy to build and grow your territory effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Raise capital for the firm’s alternative investment solutions via financial advisers

Develop and maintain strong relationships with intermediary firms, adviser networks

Promote the firm’s alternative investment opportunities, clearly articulating the investment proposition and suitability for adviser clients.

Represent the firm at industry events, adviser meetings and investment presentations.

Support the development of adviser-facing marketing materials, presentations, and investor communications.

Maintain long‑term relationships with existing partners, ensuring consistent engagement and updates.

Candidate Profile

Proven track record in investment sales or capital raising within an adviser-facing role.

Essential: strong experience promoting alternative investments (e.g. VC, PE, EIS, VCT)

Established network of financial advisers within the Midlands and or the Southwest.

Strong understanding of tax‑efficient structures such as EIS/VCT is advantageous.

Self‑motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable managing a broad region with autonomy.

Excellent communication, relationship‑building and influencing skills.
