Akkodis is seeking a Communications Coordinator for a 12-month contract with a client in Culver City, CA.
Location: Culver City, CA (3 Days Onsite ) Hybrid
Duration: 12 Months Contract + Possible Extension
Pay Range: $30-$32 per hour on a W2. The rate may be negotiable based on factors such as experience, education, geographic location, and other relevant considerations.
What We Do/Project
This role's primary focus is to serve as the communications support for the Streaming and Programming Communication team in addition to serving as the day-to-day lead for posting content on @HBOMaxPR on X. This role will provide crucial support to help plan campaigns, create press lists, pitch press, draft press releases for distribution, support marketing activations, and more.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
• Draft and distribute press releases for programming around key cultural events/holidays, programming anniversaries, genres, select marketing events, and more
• Draft event invites, post-event communications, press pitches, and route press materials to key internal and external stakeholders
• Create and maintain coverage trackers and press lists
• Day-to-day support of PR social media accounts (@HBOMaxPR) - managing the posting schedule, developing content, drafting copy, and liaising with social teams across the organization
• Establish relationships with up-and-coming press through frequent communication, pitching efforts, and elevation of team priorities
• Track press coverage and industry news to create coverage reports daily
• Liaise with Media Relations, Marketing, Awards, Events, and more to maintain the department's calendar of upcoming initiatives
• Competitive analysis reports analyzing press coverage trends and positioning across the streaming landscape
• Update misc. Team tracking documents and create wrap up reports
• Other misc. tasks in support of the Streaming Comms team
Must Have Skills / Requirements
1) Writing Experience
a. 2+ years; Experience writing strategy documents, press releases, etc.
2) Organizational Skills
a. 2+ years; Experience supporting Press Campaigns; Publicists, Launches/Junkets.
3) Experience Tracking
a. 1-2 years; Tracking Press hits and coverage
Soft Skills:
1) Must have strong writing skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
2) Previous experience in a communications or marketing firm, media, or technology company is helpful.
3) Must have a passion for storytelling and a constant curiosity to learn new skills.
4) Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required.
5) Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery of quality deliverables.
6) Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and problem-solving skills required; knowledge of AP Style a plus.
7) Have excellent time management skills, including the ability to balance multiple projects
8) Tactful in resolving problems
9) Able to communicate effectively with all levels of management
10) Able to work under strict time constraints and meet deadlines
11) A team player with the ability to adapt to a variety of situations and work effectively with stakeholders across the company
12) A self-starter
13) Able to maintain confidentiality and conduct oneself in a professional/courteous manner
Technology Requirements:
1) Familiarity with Slack and MS365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Education / Certifications
1) Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field strongly preferred.
