The Director, Personal Lines Product Management provides strategic leadership and oversight for the company’s personal residential insurance portfolio across all states and lines of business. This role is accountable for the full product lifecycle, including strategy, development, pricing strategy, regulatory filings, performance monitoring, and optimization, ensuring alignment with corporate growth, profitability, and risk management objectives.

As a senior product leader, the Director partners closely with underwriting, actuarial, operations, technology, marketing, and sales to deliver competitive, compliant, and financially sound personal lines products while responding effectively to changing market conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Define and execute the strategic direction for personal residential products to support corporate growth, retention, and profitability goals.

Establish, monitor, and evaluate multidimensional portfolio performance metrics to proactively identify opportunities and emerging risks.

Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual product and portfolio performance updates to senior leadership.

Assess prospective books of business and assumptions/rollovers, providing data-driven recommendations prior to acceptance.

Product Development & Regulatory Management

Lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of personal lines products, including rate, rule, and form strategies.

Oversee product filings and rate reviews, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements.

Monitor market trends and competitive positioning to inform product enhancements and pricing strategies.

Launch new products, states, and lines of business in support of corporate expansion initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Serve as a trusted subject matter expert on personal lines products for underwriting, operations, marketing, sales, and distribution partners.

Provide product guidance and support for system enhancements, underwriting automation, and operational initiatives.

Partner with operations to establish and maintain underwriting guidelines, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency and accuracy.

Lead, mentor, and develop product management staff to achieve business objectives and individual professional growth.

Foster a culture of analytical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Oversee routine and special portfolio review projects, ensuring timely execution and actionable outcomes.

Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive experience in personal lines insurance, with advanced knowledge of residential products (e.g., Homeowners, Dwelling Fire, Personal Inland Marine).

Proven experience in product management, pricing methodologies, competitive analysis, and regulatory compliance.

Preferred Experience

Experience with multi-state personal lines products, including knowledge of geographically diverse regulatory environments.

Familiarity with catastrophe risk modeling and portfolio analytics.

Experience supporting or leading automated underwriting systems and technology-enabled product initiatives.

Experience with developing and implementing processes, procedures, and training materials.

Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to balance growth, retention, and profitability.

Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior leaders and cross-functional partners.

Proven leadership and people management capabilities.

Effective negotiation, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Licenses and Certifications
No licenses or certifications required. Professional insurance designations are a plus, but not required.
