Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The Office of Enrollment Communications (EC) leads the strategy and execution of the University’s enrollment marketing efforts, planning and implementing marketing and communication projects that further enrollment goals throughout the student lifecycle.
The department’s work includes strategic planning and project management for mass communications across web, email, print collateral, direct mail, digital and print advertising, signage, and communication flows, creating on-brand, cohesive messaging for undergraduate and graduate students across on-campus and online, traditional and adult learners.
Prospective students: collaborating with Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate School, Financial Aid, and individual academic units
Admitted students: supporting yield initiative, onboarding communication, collaborating with admissions, financial aid, new student transitions
Current students: ongoing messaging on enrollment requirements and student success, collaborating with Financial Aid, Registrar, student health, advising, student success division
Position Summary
The Associate Director of Digital Marketing partners closely with the Director of Enrollment Communications as the office’s second strategic leader. This role plans and executes digital marketing across email, social, web, and paid media channels, ensuring work reflects industry best practices and supports enrollment goals.
Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing reporting frameworks and digital advertising workflows, managing internal marketing technology platforms (WordPress, GA4, Slate CRM), providing consulting to academic units, managing the annual media plan and agency partnership, and staying current on industry trends.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of training and experience. Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree + at least 5 years of professional marketing experience, or Bachelor’s degree + at least 7 years of professional marketing experience.
3+ years running digital marketing campaigns with deep familiarity in digital advertising (social, SEM, and digital buying platforms).
2+ years experience working in a CMS such as WordPress to create and manage web pages.
2+ years experience working in a CRM to create and manage email/text communications, including automations.
2+ years supervising staff and providing coaching and direction.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects across a variety of channels with fast‑paced timelines.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to build strong cross‑functional relationships.
Experience collaborating with writers, designers, external vendors, and project owners to deliver efficient outcomes.
Proven attention to detail and organizational skills.
Google Ads or similar certifications.
Functional understanding of HTML and Google Analytics.
Familiarity with best practices and regulations around mass email and texting.
Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite.
Experience working in Slate, designing communications, creating deliver campaigns, building forms, and other email platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Strategy, Planning, and Execution – collaborate with department/division leadership to develop digital marketing strategies that align with the overall enrollment marketing plan and oversee execution.
Documentation and Reporting – maintain current and past digital marketing initiative documentation (ad campaigns, email flows, etc.) and oversee a regular reporting schedule to advise leadership.
Staff Supervision – manage three full‑time staff, delegating projects, tracking workload, reviewing content, and facilitating staff development.
Budget Management – recommend ad spend, estimate and negotiate contracts with vendors, and responsibly manage department budget.
Other Duties – support email campaign writing and execution, print production, social media planning, or other special projects as needed; occasional post‑hours work may be required.
