Position Overview
Reporter and Broadcast Producer for KFBK, a heritage legacy news radio station operating in Sacramento for over 100 years.
Responsibilities
Deliver newscasts, announce scripts and audio gathered around selected news events.
Conduct interviews, write, review, and edit news copy, introductions, PSAs, commercials, pre‑recorded reports, contests, etc.
Serve as first in line for fill‑in producing, anchoring, and reporting.
Handle emergency and/or breaking news.
Help generate content for social media and digital platforms.
Operate the control board for studios and remote programming.
Monitor technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on‑air programming from the master control room.
Check studio equipment for proper functioning and notify Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting broadcast quality.
Protect the station's license.
Perform other reporter duties as assigned by the news director or station manager.
Qualifications
Socially informed and perceptive; up‑to‑date with local and national trends or specialized knowledge of topics related to on‑air discussions.
Pleasant, charismatic, and well‑controlled voice; excellent pronunciation and professionalism.
Comfortable with live radio programming; able to deliver information to mass audiences in an easy‑to‑understand way.
Well‑rounded communication skills for conducting interviews and asking the right questions.
Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
Proficient in media production and broadcast systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and social networking.
Experience
1–2 years of experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station environment.
Education
4‑year college degree, preferably in Communications or Journalism.
Certifications
None required.
Compensation
USD 20.00–25.00 per hour.
