Commercial Real Estate Director II – Florida
The Commercial Real Estate Director II is responsible for developing and managing an extensive portfolio of Commercial Real Estate customers with large financial and strong asset bases. This senior individual‑contributor role focuses on relationship management, origination, structure and execution of large complex Commercial Real Estate transactions. The director will generate revenue through loans, deposits and cross‑selling all applicable bank services to existing and potential customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain important client relationships.
- Produce and maintain profitable Commercial Real Estate loan volume, including cross‑sell, return generation and First Line of Defense.
- Qualify prospects and lead development of new business opportunities from prospects and existing customers.
- Ensure relationships are managed to highest profit potential, develop profitable new business, cross‑sell all applicable Fifth Third products and services, and manage the sales process in a specific geographic area.
- Assist in the development of new Commercial Real Estate Relationship Managers, Associates and Analysts.
- Develop intimate knowledge of all customers and businesses.
- Build strong working relationships with peers and senior leaders in Commercial Real Estate and the broader organization.
- Underwrite credit requests and approve real estate loans within established lending limits or recommend higher‑authority approvals.
- Monitor customer performance and industry information to ensure loans remain acceptable risk.
- Ensure proper reporting, documentation and review for acceptable risk.
- Identify credit opportunities that may lead to significant non‑credit sales.
- Deliver value‑added financial solutions, from traditional to customized products, to enhance client businesses.
- Stay abreast of trends, developments and regulations in the industry and local markets.
- Coordinate all client‑facing activities related to credit, product areas and Treasury Management partners.
- Attend community and industry forums, conferences and meetings to broaden relationships and deepen knowledge of competitors and products.
- Participate in community affairs and projects to promote the bank’s image.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- No direct reports, but may provide oversight and direction for Associates, Analysts and Commercial Leadership Program participants.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Undergraduate degree required; graduate degree preferred.
- 8–10+ years of experience in banking, finance or related field.
- 4+ years of Commercial Real Estate experience and sales management preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated sales and negotiation experience.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Strong credit training required; underwriting skills preferred.
- Track record of success originating and closing complex financial transactions as part of a team.
- Ability to interact effectively with senior executives inside and outside the organization.
- Strong relationship‑building skills.
