Role Overview
Senior Coordinator of Marketing and Communications – Siebel School of Computing and Data Science, Grainger College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Duties and Responsibilities

Communications, Marketing Strategy & Campaign Execution

Provide strategic leadership for integrated communications and marketing, aligning initiatives with school, college, and university priorities.

Develop and execute annual and long‑range communications and marketing plans, including goal setting, audience targeting, and measurable outcomes.

Lead ideation, planning, and execution of multi‑channel campaigns (web, e‑mail, social, and digital platforms), ensuring alignment across audiences.

Oversee and actively manage the school’s digital channels, with responsibility for content strategy, performance optimization, and growth.

Establish and track key performance indicators, and develop regular reports and dashboards.

Utilize data analytics and audience insights to refine messaging and guide strategy.

Monitor market trends and higher education communications practices, translating insights into actionable strategies.

Serve as senior writer, editor, and content strategist for complex or high‑visibility communications, reviewing and approving staff content.

Ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with institutional messaging and brand standards.

Serve as primary liaison to the college marketing and communications team and coordinate with campus partners and external collaborators.

Leadership, Project Management & Operational Oversight

Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for communications and events staff, including onboarding and evaluations.

Operate within project management systems and workflows to ensure accountability for timelines, deliverables, and priorities.

Oversee planning and execution of school‑hosted events, ensuring alignment with strategies.

Review and approve event‑related communications and materials to ensure quality and consistency.

Coordinate and prioritize team activities to support strategic initiatives while maintaining daily operational effectiveness.

Serve as a resource and escalation point for team and stakeholder needs.

School Communications Operations & Channel Ownership

Website updates, enhancements, and analytics.

Social media management and performance tracking.

Email communications and stakeholder coordination.

Development of news content, media mentions, and school‑specific storytelling.

Ensure all channels are actively maintained, strategically aligned, and continuously improved.

Other

Assume additional responsibilities to further the mission and strategic goals of the school.

Participate in occasional evening/weekend events and limited travel as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.

Three (3) years of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related field.

Demonstrated experience leading projects, teams, or initiatives.

Demonstrated experience managing communications or marketing channels (web, email, social).

Master’s degree (or one year of experience) may substitute for one year of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using data or analytics to inform strategy.

Experience developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies.

Experience managing multi‑channel campaigns and performance reporting.

Familiarity with analytics tools such as Google Analytics, email platforms, social media insights.

Experience working in higher education or similar complex organizations.

Experience supervising staff or leading cross‑functional teams.

Appointment Information
This is a full‑time Civil Service Marketing Associate position appointed on a 12‑month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the closing date. The budgeted salary range for this position is $67,000 – $72,000.

Additional Information
This position is not eligible for work‑authorization sponsorship. Hybrid work options may be available, with on‑site presence as needed per the university’s Workplace Flexibility policy.
