About this Job

About this Position:

This position will coordinate all digital communications and strategy initiatives associated with the Louisiana Office of Tourism. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing the full digital public relations program with regards to public relations, creating promotional documents, and developing and maintaining the department's social media presence. Travel may be required.

This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in public relations, journalism, marketing, content creation, social media management, or graphic design; OR

Six years of full-time experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Compiles, researches, writes, and distributes public Information to the general public and members of the press.

Identify and track strategies, initiatives, work tasks, and other action items to attain transparency with public relation workflows.

Collaborate with the Public Information Director in the maintenance and optimization of the Office of Tourism's digital ecosystem, including website and associated portals, social media platforms, and digital Welcome Centers.

Responsible for designing and implementing robust digital strategies to promote the activities of the Office of Tourism including but not limited to web and social media platforms.

Integrate planning, training, technology and digital tools into key operations to achieve greater coordination of public relation workflows.

Meets with management to provide guidance and assistance in the preparation and dissemination of information on specific projects, promotional campaigns, or informational resources to the public.

Collaborate closely with the Public Information Director to ensure alignment of written, verbal, and digital messaging.

Additional duties as assigned.

Appointment Type: This is a probational appointment.

Career Progression: This position may be filled as a Public Information Officer 1 or 2, depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant. Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, M-F 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
