Role Overview
We’re seeking a Commercial Director (M&E) to lead commercial strategy, drive profitability, and strengthen client relationships for a major building services contractor based in Birmingham. This is a senior leadership role for someone who thrives on shaping commercial frameworks, negotiating high‑value contracts, and steering business growth across complex M&E projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial Leadership — Own the commercial strategy across all M&E projects, ensuring robust governance, risk management, and margin protection.
- Contract Management — Lead negotiation and administration of NEC/JCT contracts, ensuring compliance and commercial clarity.
- Business Growth — Identify new revenue opportunities, support bids, and strengthen market positioning.
- Financial Oversight — Oversee cost planning, forecasting, and commercial reporting to board level.
- Team Leadership — Mentor and develop a high‑performing commercial team across pre‑construction and delivery.
- Stakeholder Engagement — Build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal delivery teams.
About You
- Proven experience as a senior commercial leader within the M&E contracting or building services sector.
- Strong understanding of NEC/JCT contract frameworks.
- Demonstrable success in profit optimisation , risk management , and commercial governance .
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at board level.
- Strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach to delivery.
