The Team: The Data & Research team represents several of our flagship products in the S&P Capital IQ/Pro Desktop, Visible Alpha, Pronto, Aftermarket Research, Chart IQ, Kensho LLM APIs, Sustainability and Xpressfeed/API/Marketplace channel solutions. Together, they represent over $1.3B in annual revenue and are seeing significant growth based on continued expansion of content, delivery, and capabilities.
Responsibilities and Impact:
As a Data & Research (D&R) Senior Sales Specialist for Sell Side, you are responsible for selling a suite of products distributed via desktop, bulk delivery or API to our Tier 1 clients. You act as a senior leader who leads a pod of sales reps and solves problems for sophisticated clients. In addition to sales, you work closely with leadership on strategic initiatives and help shape future product roadmaps by providing client feedback. Your client segment focus is across financial institutions. Through proactive prospecting, you diagnose client requirements, define pricing frameworks, combine solutions across the organization, and identify further opportunities. You will expand our client base through new account sign‑ups.
Overall responsibility of New Business Sales within our strategic client base
Leading a pod of sales team members through coaching, mentoring, and nurturing their pipeline
Build a territory plan and organized process around working with the assigned Sales Associate and Prospecting team to stay in front of all prospects in the territory
Stay current with industry news to develop marketing and campaigning initiatives to attract prospects
Understand financial institutions client workflows and how our products pertain to them
Engage and collaborate with other business units to ensure an enhanced client experience through team selling
Work closely with business development and product specialists to identify new opportunities and use cases within the territory
Negotiate contract terms and pricing structures
Uncover cross‑divisional synergies and contribute to product innovation
Maintain a focused approach to daily sales activity pipelines and systems‑based workflow (e.g. Salesforce.com)
Compensation and Benefits:
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $126,672 to $162,249, based on geographic location, experience, skills, training, licenses and certifications.
This role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Basic Qualifications:
10+ years of experience as an individual contributor (financial services experience preferred)
Independent, self‑starter capable of working without close supervision
Strong business acumen with a record in consultative sales
Team player who collaborates across functional and geographic boundaries
Experience selling complex data and/or technology solutions to financial institutions
Confidence in approaching new markets, navigating, and owning a territory, and dealing with C‑Level executives
Strong communication, organization, presentation, and negotiation skills
