Responsibilities

As the primary liaison for social media information on the Web, ensures that information is releasable within the guidelines of the Department of War regulations and policy and maintains operational security.

Maintains liaison and provides advice to DoWEA on new/social media engagement opportunities as well as coordination as appropriate with other government agencies.

Evaluates social media analytics to recommend changes in approach for digital communications.

Develops internal and external social media communications plans, including content for social media. Ensures that products reflect the views, positions, and policies of DoWEA and the Department of Defense.

Develops comprehensive social media strategies that support DoWEA’s communications efforts and advance messaging for major policy and program announcements, and understanding of DoWEA’s program and priorities.

Execute an international Social Media outreach campaign to support DoWEA operations worldwide in an effort to promote understanding of the mission and scope of DoWEA, connecting geographically dispersed parent community, student body, and workforce.

Specialized Experience for the GS-12
One year of specialized experience which includes:

Assisting with the management of targeted outreach campaigns through writing, production, and posting of content on social networking digital media to facilitate public understanding of the agency's work;

Coordinates with the organization web team, graphics staff, video team, and/or infographic/animation specialist to develop content, use of photos and videos, structure and organization;

Builds and maintains knowledge of current trends and technologies to evaluate the results of social media programs;

Responds to information requests, comments, and feedback from new/social media outlets.

Specialized Experience for the GS-13
One year of specialized experience which includes:

Develop, Plan, conduct, and coordinate the organization's Social Media Program;

Design and execute Organization's Social Media Policy that provides the framework to inform and educate general and specialized audiences;

Maintain working relationships with members for developing New Media/Social Media networks and outlets;

Analyze and evaluate social media effectiveness to recommend changes in approach for digital communications;

Keep organization leadership informed;

Educate and train colleagues on how to use available tools.

Time in Grade Requirement
For GS-12: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

For GS-13: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).

Additional Information

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of War referral system for displaced employees.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.

Position is being filled at the GS-12 target GS-13 level. Duties described reflect the full performance GS-13 level. Duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under close supervision. This recruitment provides promotion opportunity to the target grade of the position without further competition when selectee is eligible and recommended by management.
