Job Overview
The Visual Graphic Illustrator primarily supports the FOB Visual Merchandising Creative team by creating visual presentations and conceptual renderings. The role involves driving visual execution excellence across more than 400 stores.
What You Will Do
- Create shop renderings according to seasonal/monthly needs for quarterly directives, proposals, and special presentations.
- Assist in developing seasonal templates and a library of images for the Creative Director Visual.
- Create digital files for internal upload and file sharing.
- Maintain an organized catalog of all files.
- Collaborate with colleagues to deliver work that meets established standards.
- Liaise with vendors and external partners to ensure consistency and quality in print and 3D deliverables.
- Communicate professionally on behalf of Macy’s.
- Partner with internal cross‑functional teams (marketing, merchandising, fashion office) to develop concepts for merchant initiatives.
- Construct conceptual renders for print and 3D projects and present them in high‑level reviews.
- Attend weekly production meetings to maintain timelines and accountability for deliverables.
- Manage and organize project assets and digital files with backups.
- Demonstrate strong graphic design skills with high taste and attention to detail.
- Adhere to brand standards and specifications.
- Exhibit strong organizational, self‑starting, and time‑management skills.
- Adapt and pivot priorities as business needs dictate.
- Be flexible to attend store prototypes, floor sets, vendor meetings, or FOB team meetings.
- Create an environment of acceptance and respect for authentic relationships.
- Maintain regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Skills You Will Need
Graphic Design and Illustration: Proficiency in graphic design, illustration, and conceptual rendering.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and SketchUp. Knowledge of 3D rendering software such as SolidWorks, Rhino, 3D Inscape, or Twinmotion is beneficial.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication, liaising effectively with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
Organizational Skills: Ability to manage project assets, digital files, and maintain an organized catalog.
Attention to Detail: High taste level and adherence to brand standards.
Adaptability and Time Management: Work autonomously, prioritize workload, and adapt to changing business priorities.
Creativity and Problem Solving: Solve problems and present conceptual renders at senior‑level reviews.
Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with retail or experiential environments; experience in visual retail, interior design, or architectural design preferred.
Professionalism: Represent Macy’s with professionalism, urgency, and ability to work under pressure.
Teamwork: Collaborate effectively as part of a team, integrating feedback.
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasional moving around the workplace and reaching with hands and arms.
- Close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
- Occasional travel.
