Customer Marketing Director – Access, Gastroenterology

Overview

Genentech’s Marketing organization drives decisions through an insight‑driven strategy that communicates the full value proposition across payers, health systems, prescribers, and patients. The Marketing Director will launch a new GI product in ulcerative colitis, a dual‑route molecule that will be the first commercial launch with gastroenterologists in the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the launch access team and develop an integrated customer marketing strategy for payer/provider and pharmacy benefit (PartD) markets.
  • Design and execute customer engagement campaigns across multiple channels, ensuring compliance with regulatory and promotional review requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal partners and external agencies to optimize access tools such as starter and bridge programs, and to streamline the delivery of services to HCPs and patients.
  • Partner with analytics and operations teams to measure marketing performance through leading and lagging customer‑satisfaction indicators and adjust tactics for continuous improvement.
  • Manage media budgets and Agency of Record spend, overseeing campaign performance and ROI.
  • Develop and mentor a team of Customer Marketers, planning capacity, providing coaching, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Marketing Director and other senior marketers, influencing long‑term brand goals and cross‑functional initiatives.

Qualifications – Minimum

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8+ years of experience, 6+ in commercial marketing, sales, or market‑access roles; at least 2 years in marketing.
  • Experience owning tactics from strategy through execution and sustaining business outcomes.
  • Pharmacy‑benefit/PartD access and payer experience.
  • Track record of coaching and leading marketing teams or projects.

Desired Qualifications – Additional

  • MBA or related graduate degree.
  • Progressive marketing experience in omnichannel or digital roles.
  • Strong customer‑understanding, persona development, and segmentation skills.
  • Evidence of measuring ROI and optimizing investment across campaigns.
  • Experience in biosimilar and innovator marketplaces, and with physician rebate programs and payer negotiations.
  • Strategic thinking and ability to balance short‑term profitability with long‑term growth.
  • Understanding of access execution (BEMs, NAMs, FRMs) across all customer segments.

Location & Compensation

South San Francisco, CA. Salary range: $189,600 – $352,200 plus discretionary annual bonus. Benefits status detailed in the company benefits portal.
