Responsibilities
Social Marketing and Media Ideation: Partner with the Institute for Governance and Civics (IGC) team members to concept organic social media campaigns to support the various initiatives of the IGC, spanning events, speaking engagements, initiatives (e.g., K-12 education reform), etc.
Media Management: Partner with IGC team members to plan and maintain a comprehensive content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter).
Content Creation: Develop and publish organic social media campaigns to build engagement. Monitor and manage community by commenting, liking, sharing, and re‑sharing content daily, following an existing protocol document that the incumbent will maintain and update as appropriate.
Social Audience Growth: Develop and execute strategies to grow the IGC social media footprint and reach new audiences while strengthening engagement with current followers.
Email Marketing: Identify content opportunities, design, and deploy email newsletters and ad‑hoc campaigns using email marketing platforms. Analyze performance metrics and recommend improvements based on data.
Event Marketing Support: Collaborate with the Associate Director and Director on event marketing strategies for on‑campus and statewide events, and attend and support events as needed.
Website Management: Regularly update and maintain IGC webpages to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with marketing goals. Training in CMS (content management system) will be provided.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience; or high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post‑high‑school education can substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms, including the ability to leverage Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and other channels to engage and grow audiences effectively.
Proficiency in content creation, including using platforms such as Canvas or similar tools for creating compelling visual content, along with video production experience to craft engaging videos and reels across various platforms.
Understanding of email marketing and its role in supporting brand strategy and engagement goals.
Strong writing and communication skills—able to convey messages clearly and creatively across channels.
Proactive communicator who enjoys connecting with varied audiences, including students, parents, faculty, and prospective donors.
Benefits
Anticipated Salary Range: Starting salary in the high 40,000s to mid‑50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
