Position Summary
The Office of the President of the University of Georgia seeks an Executive Communications Manager whose responsibilities will be focused on speech writing and coordination of presidential communications. The position’s speech‑writing responsibilities include composing remarks and briefings for a wide array of on‑ and off‑campus engagements by the President, as well as drafting and supporting the development of the President’s annual State of the University Address. The position’s additional duties entail generating a broad range of general and specialized correspondence, a quarterly President’s Report, bi‑weekly President’s Messages, as well as managing the Office of the President website, drafting presidential proclamations, executing special projects as assigned by the Chief of Staff, and completing other miscellaneous writing assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 5 years of professional experience.

Duties & Responsibilities
(50%) Speech writing and coordination of presidential communications, including general and specialized correspondence, a quarterly President’s Report, bi‑weekly President’s Messages, management of the Office of the President website, drafting presidential proclamations, special projects as assigned by the Chief of Staff, and other miscellaneous writing assignments.
(20%) Drafting and supporting development of the President’s Annual State of the University Address, including composing the first draft of the speech, working with the Assistant to the President to further develop the address, and working with the President and Chief of Staff to execute the final project.
(15%) Coordinate closely with the Division of Marketing and Communications on the development of press releases, content for the President’s Office website, and other matters.
(10%) Jointly supervise one graduate assistant who provides clerical support and oversees routine correspondence such as standard notes of thanks, congratulations, or condolence (along with other operational duties).
(10%) Collaborate with the Division of Development and Alumni Relations as well as other units on correspondence with donors and provide/maintain a style guide for their guidance.
