Managing Producer, Platforms (ENPI)
WAMU 88.5 is a public radio station owned and operated by American University. The Managing Producer, Platforms leads the team responsible for ensuring WAMU’s journalism reaches audiences across radio, podcast, social media, video, and online platforms. The role shapes the audience journey, establishes workflow systems, maintains quality standards, tracks performance, and partners with editorial, technology, operations, and revenue teams.
Key Responsibilities
Multiplatform Journalism Strategy and Delivery – develop and execute content strategies across audio, video, digital, social, and visual platforms; adapt stories and tailor formats based on platform demands and audience behavior.
Team Leadership and Workflow Development – mentor and supervise producers and editors; design workflows, style guides, and publishing standards; collaborate with Technology on CMS and production tools.
Production Oversight and Quality Control – review and approve all multiplatform content; maintain production schedules, manage external vendors and contractors.
Metrics and Distribution – define and track KPIs; analyze audience data; work with audience, marketing, and technology teams to amplify reach and optimize distribution.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Innovation – partner with editorial, operations, technology, and revenue staff; evaluate emerging platforms and content formats; recommend investments and experiments.
Supervisory Responsibility – manage the multiplatform team, coach staff, conduct performance reviews, and allocate resources.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in journalism or related field.
5–8 years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in multiplatform leadership.
Expertise in producing audio, video, social, and digital content; technical knowledge of tools and publishing platforms.
Strong analytics and metrics fluency; proven track record of optimizing content for reach.
Excellent editorial judgment, communication skills, and ability to handle multiple high‑priority projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Washington DC region politics, culture, and communities.
Background in commercial, public media, or mission‑driven newsrooms.
Experience in a unionized environment.
Experience creating multiplatform content for radio, digital, on‑demand, and social.
Experience developing and executing multimedia projects.
Position Details
Type: Full‑time, 35 hours per week.
Salary: $110,000–$130,000 annually.
Work Modality: Hybrid – on‑campus 3‑4 days per week.
Union: ENPI.
Location: Washington, DC (station).
