Job Title: Managing Producer, Platforms ENPI
Location: Hybrid – on campus 3‑4 days per week
Type: Full‑time, Regular, Exempt
Summary: The Managing Producer, Platforms ENPI leads the team responsible for ensuring WAMU’s journalism reaches audiences wherever they are—on radio, online, podcasts, social media, and video. This person oversees how WAMU’s stories are adapted, formatted, and distributed across platforms, ensuring the work is clear, engaging, and accessible to the broadest possible audience. The role shapes the audience journey across platforms, guiding audiences from one touchpoint to another for a more connected, full WAMU experience. The Managing Producer sets system and process efficiencies, maintains quality and consistency, and tracks performance for smarter decision making.
Essential Functions Multiplatform Journalism Strategy and Delivery Lead development and execution of content strategies across audio, video, digital, social, and visuals; adapt stories and distribute them effectively across platforms based on audience behavior. Monitor ecosystem shifts and translate them into practical guidance for editors and producers. Coordinate daily editorial and production decisions about platform priorities.

Team Leadership and Workflow Development Manage and mentor producers and editors; establish best practices, workflows, and toolsets for production, editing, and publishing. Supervise the platforms team, influence cross‑editorial priorities without direct line authority, and partner with technology for CMS and publishing infrastructure.

Production Oversight and Quality Control Oversee creation, editing, and delivery of multiplatform content; review and approve content before publication; manage external vendors and contractors; maintain production schedules and resource allocation.

Metrics, Distribution, and Reach Amplification Define and track KPIs for audience, distribution, and engagement; work with audience, marketing, and tech teams to amplify content reach; analyze behavior and recommend improvements. Collaborate on SEO, distribution partnerships, and promotional campaigns.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration and Innovation Partner with editorial, operations, tech, revenue, and special projects teams; experiment with new platforms and formats; integrate platform strategy into organizational initiatives and recommend further investment or disengagement based on data.

Qualifications 5‑8 years of relevant experience, 5+ years of multiplatform leadership;
Expert‑level producing across audio, video, social, digital, with technical knowledge of tools and publishing platforms;
Strong analytics and metrics fluency, proven ability to optimize content for reach;
Demonstrated ability to build workflows, manage tools, and coordinate across departments;
Excellent editorial judgment, communication, and capacity to handle multiple high‑priority projects.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Washington region politics, culture, community;
Background in commercial, public media or mission‑driven newsrooms;
Experience in a unionized environment;
Experience creating multiplatform content (radio, digital, on‑demand, social);
Experience executing multimedia projects.
Mandatory Mandate Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Compensation Salary range: $110,000 – $130,000 annually.
