Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) Computer Resource Unit (CRU). The CRU is seeking a highly skilled
Senior IT Production Engineer
to support and administer our application portfolio and participate as a lead technical resource in application projects.
As technical support to the entire KCSO organization, the KCSO Computer Resource Unit, provides the foundational systems and services that power some of the region's most essential law enforcement functions. We work side-by-side with our King County IT and vendor partners to design and deliver technology solutions that enhance customer experience and advance King County's mission.
Successful candidates will have knowledge and experience with software administration, scripting, as well as knowledge of Microsoft Defender vulnerability management, SQL databases, Windows server administration, possess an understanding of operating systems, server virtualization, storage, networking technologies and an entry level proficiency in Azure Cloud services.

Job Duties
General job dutiesinclude, but are not limited to:
Lifecycle management:
Work with correct teams to establish and upgrade application systems software, servers, databases and integrations.
Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate progress
with customers and stakeholders, while collaborating with vendors, and KCSO cross-functional teams.
Act as initial and final point of escalation
in application system support.
Establish and support system documentation
and cross-train team members on technical systems.
Research viable IT solutions for procurement while maintaining security practices.
Act as technical lead for application projects , overseeing KCSO technical requirements for systems and coordinating and collaborating with customers, stakeholders, vendors and KCSO cross-functional teams.
Build and deliver presentations for architectural reviews
for phase gate approval.
Utilize organizational and time management skills
while balancing several ongoing projects and system maintenance.
Continuously learn about and apply knowledge on technologies and systems
being utilized within KCSO.
Work within a Sheriff's Office precinct and support KCSO staff , including deputies, detectives, leadership, and support staff.
Provide On Call support
for one-week rotations. Assist with monthly Windows server patching.
This includes 7-10 weeks a year, times include 5pm-7am weekdays; 24hrs on weekends/holidays.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
Five (5) years of experience
using and supporting Microsoft tools and products with increasing responsibilities, and a combination of education and/or experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the essential job duties of the position, including but not limited to the following:
Knowledge of application support, hard drive operating systems, server virtualization, server storage and server certificates, networking technologies, databases, and security protocols.
Experience overseeing technical aspects of projects and deliverables including: participating in architectural design, documentation, training, change management, and security protocol configuration.
Experience working with vendors, customers, and stakeholders to implement application solutions.
Possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate effective customer service.
Provide application portfolio lifecycle support and serve as a final escalation point for application requests and incidents including: write scripts for process automation, standardize operational processes, ensure system technologies are kept current and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Experience in utilizing PowerShell to develop scripts and experience with AD groups and Entra access.
Experience in working with VPN tunnels, and establishing SSO and SSL, renewing server certs, experience using configure management databases (CMDB)s, such as SCCM, and upgrading software systems.
Experience in major incident responses, advanced troubleshooting skills, experience in root cause analysis and problem management, expertise in data collection and analysis skills.
Experience working with vendors, managing incidents and coordinating fixes.

dditional Requirements:
You must be a United States citizen, Lawful Permanent Resident , or deferred action childhood arrival (DACA) recipient.
You must have the ability to read, speak, and write in the English language fluently.
Verify that you do
not
meet any of the KCSO Automatic Disqualifying Behavior requirements.
You must be able to meet all KCSO background standards as listed in section 10.14 of the Civil Service Rules . Background requirements will be evaluated throughout the hiring process.
Desired Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, competitive candidate will also have one or more of the following:
Degree in Computer Science, or a combination of education with extensive and progressive work experience.
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE), CompTIA, Network + Certified, or other technical certifications).
Project Management experience
Azure cloud experience
Experience imaging Dell computers
Experience working in a governmental capacity using enterprise tools.
Supplemental Information
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime.
Typical work hours are 40 hours per week, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional hours and/or modified schedules may be necessary to respond to workload needs, which may include evenings, weekends, and a rotating on-call schedule.
WORK LOCATION:
