Scripps Sports is seeking an Account Executive who will sell linear, digital, and sponsorship solutions for Scripps Sports, including our partnership as the official broadcast partner of the Nashville Predators on ION and WNPX-TV/WTVF Channel 5. You'll work with regional and national clients to create innovative advertising solutions that connect brands with passionate sports fans, while helping achieve the revenue plan of our growing sports division. This is a hybrid role with the potential to work from Nashville, TN, Charlotte, NC, or Atlanta, GA.
Responsibilities
Independent prospecting of regional and national accounts, securing appointments, performing needs analysis, and developing customized solutions.
Conducting presentations, closing sales, and selling sponsorship/advertising solutions utilizing league and team controlled sports inventory.
Supporting client service activities including media availability negotiations, presentation preparation, copy writing, credit applications, collections, and retention reporting.
Building and maintaining strong client relationships, attending sporting events and associated functions, and entertaining prospective and existing clients.
Managing media sales administrative tasks such as make‑good resolution, CRM activity updates, and communication with VP of Revenue.
Assisting national or local AEs on key client sales calls for sports sponsorships.
Qualifications
BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience; generally 5+ years of sports-related experience.
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with required limits.
Desired Skills
Proven success in a goal‑oriented, highly accountable sales environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customer‑relations software; working knowledge of various media sales platforms.
Strong influencing, selling, and upselling skills; good organizational and time‑management abilities.
Confident presentation and negotiation skills; strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication; outstanding presentation abilities for in‑person/virtual engagements.
Effective teamwork, collaboration, and highly self‑motivated with a goal focus.
Travel required up to 25%.
