Coopwood Publishing Group is seeking a self-driven, creative, talented, and dependable

Graphic Designer / Production Designer

to join our team in Cleveland, Mississippi. This position will play a key role in the design, layout, production, and visual presentation of our weekly newspaper publications, magazines, advertisements, marketing materials, and special projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for layout design, typography, branding, visual communication, print production, advertising design, and publication design, along with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven publishing environment.

Responsibilities

Design and lay out weekly newspaper pages using strong editorial design, page composition, and publication layout skills
Create professional print advertisements, digital ads, promotional graphics, and marketing materials for advertisers and clients
Assist with magazine layouts, feature spreads, special sections, and custom publications
Develop graphics for social media, websites, email marketing, events, sales materials, and in-house promotions as needed
Work closely with editors, writers, sales representatives, advertisers, and management to maintain brand consistency and meet production deadlines
Prepare files for print production, prepress, proofing, and final output
Ensure accuracy in copy placement, image resolution, ad sizing, margins, bleeds, color settings, and file formatting
Help maintain a polished and consistent visual identity across multiple publications and platforms
Manage multiple design projects at once while staying organized and detail-oriented
Qualifications

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
Strong skills in layout design, typography, color theory, composition, visual hierarchy, and brand identity
Knowledge of print design, publication design, advertising design, and production workflow
Ability to design for both print and digital platforms
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and time management
Ability to work under deadlines in a fast-paced newspaper, magazine, media, or publishing environment
Ability to communicate clearly and work as part of a collaborative creative team
Experience with newspaper layout, magazine production, ad design, prepress, or print-ready file preparation is preferred, but not required
A portfolio or work samples showing experience in graphic design, production design, advertising, branding, or publication layout is encouraged
Compensation

Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
