Job Description Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented BIM Designer II to join our electrical VDC team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and coordinating various electrical projects, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project goals. You will collaborate with internal teams and external disciplines to deliver high-quality models that support design, construction, and project coordination efforts.
Role & Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Modeling: Create and manage 3D models for electrical systems using Revit and other BIM tools. Ensure models are in compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards. Perform clash detection and resolve conflicts in coordination with other disciplines (e.g., mechanical, structural).
Project Coordination: Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, project management, etc.) and external consultants (architects, contractors). Participate in coordination meetings and assist in resolving design issues. Manage the exchange of models between internal and external stakeholders.
Documentation & Deliverables: Prepare accurate electrical drawings, layouts, and other deliverables from models. Maintain up-to-date models throughout the project lifecycle, including design changes and as-built documentation. Assist in developing BIM standards and best practices within the organization.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline modeling and coordination workflows. Stay updated on BIM trends, tools, and industry developments relevant to electrical design.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in electrical BIM design, with a focus on commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects. Proven experience using Revit for electrical systems modeling.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Familiarity with BIM 360 and clash detection processes. Understanding of electrical design concepts, codes, and standards.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working across teams. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) year degree in electrical construction, electrical design for construction or similar preferred.
Physical Requirements
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets, photocopiers and fax machines. Employees are frequently required to sit, and occasionally required to kneel, reach, stoop, crouch or crawl. This position requires the ability to lift files, open file cabinets, and bend or stand as necessary. This position may occasionally lift up to 10 pounds.
Pay Range
$76,800.00 - $102,400.00. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
