The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi‑Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (mill & lathe) to fabricate and modify components.
Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of maintenance requirements and troubleshooting.
Possess knowledge of the TVAC system and its operation.
Determine speed and feed rates for cutting tools and materials.
Execute fabrication operations such as drilling, turning, tapping, reaming, and grinding per engineering drawings and standards.
Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications with high accuracy.
Communicate work status, resolve technical issues, and assist in troubleshooting and solution identification to meet demanding schedules.
Coordinate work across multiple project disciplines.
Manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy.
Demonstrate initiative, self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
Deliver written and verbal presentations for interfacing with management and customers.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent with technical training in the applicable area of expertise.
20 years of related experience and required certifications across technical disciplines for aerospace systems and equipment.
Valid U.S. driver's license.
Physical Requirements
May be required to climb stairs for equipment troubleshooting.
Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other personal protective equipment.
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Requirements include sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must evacuate quickly in an emergency.
Work Environment
May be required inside and outside the test complex.
Position may require daily travel to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain such as paved areas, gravel, rocks, and dirt/sand may be required.
Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
All work must comply with NASA and company safety standards.

Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance
Full‑time work hours.
May require occasional overtime, including weekend work.
Dependable and punctual.
Shift work may be required.

Service Contract Act (SCA) Compensation & Benefits
This hourly, overtime‑eligible position falls under the Service Contract Act. Eligible employees receive additional health and welfare payments per hour worked. Amounts vary based on selected benefits.
