TV News MMJ/Backup News Anchor

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bemidji, MN, for a TV News Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) and Backup News Anchor. The selected candidate will research, write, shoot, and edit news stories for broadcast and digital platforms. Additional duties include reporting on local events, conducting interviews, writing scripts, and producing news packages. The Backup News Anchor responsibilities involve presenting live or pre-recorded news segments and stepping in for anchor coverage as needed. Collaboration with the newsroom team is essential to deliver credible, engaging news to our community.

Qualifications

Proficiency in writing, editing, and researching compelling news content

Experience with on-air anchoring and live reporting, maintaining clear and professional communication

Technical skills in videography, video editing, and operating audiovisual equipment

Knowledge of AP style, newsroom workflows, and digital media platforms

Strong public speaking abilities and the ability to work under tight deadlines

Flexibility in adapting to developing stories and working non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends

Previous experience in broadcast journalism and familiarity with PBS programming are a plus

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred but not required

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
