As the Public Relations/Communication Coordinator for Washington State University’s Energy Program (EP), you will develop and coordinate public‑relations and communication activities to support the program’s mission. Your work will involve writing, editing, and publishing content across multiple channels and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to promote EP initiatives.
Responsibilities
Write and edit articles, news releases, newsletters, brochures, web pages, social media posts, blogs, and extension materials.
Develop and implement unit communication strategies, ensuring alignment with digital accessibility guidelines.
Lead strategic engagement through digital media, including program websites, social media, blogs, newsletters, and annual reports.
Produce visual media such as figures, graphics, and other design elements to enhance communication materials.
Collaborate with subject‑matter experts on the creation of communications products.
Promote programs, projects, and engagement opportunities to both internal WSU audiences and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in print or broadcast news media, public relations, marketing, or electronic media; or two (2) years of other relevant professional experience (combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis).
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with large groups and individuals at all work levels.
Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications relevant to communication work.
Experience communicating about energy or related topics.
Experience collaborating with subject‑matter experts on communications products.
Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain by time of hire) and compliance with school driving standards.
Willingness and ability to travel regionally, including occasional overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Education or experience in the energy field.
Experience overseeing the design and production of digital materials and publications.

Compensation
$4,689.05 – $7,033.58 per month, based on experience and qualifications. Salary reflects the full range for this position in accordance with RCW 49.58.110.
Employment Details
Full‑time (100% FTE) temporary position expected to end on June 30, 2027.
Renewal dependent on need for extension and/or availability of additional funding.
Position type: 12‑month full‑time.
