Overview
The Manager, Talent Systems & Optimization is the strategic and operational lead for talent-related HR technology, systems optimization, and process improvement initiatives within Human Resources. This role supports, enhances, and optimizes HR systems with an initial focus on Workday Recruiting, Talent, Learning, and Onboarding while driving scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency, user experience, reporting, data integrity, and overall system functionality. The position partners with HR leadership, operational leaders, IT, and end users to identify process gaps, troubleshoot complex issues, support system enhancements, and lead ongoing optimization efforts following Workday implementation. It also supports broader HR technology initiatives, process standardization, integrations, reporting enhancements, analytics, and continuous improvement across additional HR functional areas aligned to Halifax Health priorities.
Responsibilities
HRIS Administration & Workday Support:
Support Halifax Health’s HRIS environment (Core HCM, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Recruiting, and related modules); gather requirements, map processes, and recommend scalable system solutions; assist with security administration, audits, and access coordination; provide functional support for talent processes and employee lifecycle transactions; monitor performance and maintain data integrity; maintain system documentation and SOPs.
Implementation, Testing & Optimization:
Participate in HRIS implementation and enhancement initiatives (requirements, solution design, configuration, testing, data validation, deployment); develop test scripts for unit, end-to-end, and UAT; create and support reports and dashboards; track defects and coordinate resolution; support release readiness and go-live activities; identify opportunities for process improvement and harness HRIS functionality for efficiency and user experience; coordinate testing and post‑implementation stabilization.
Stakeholder Support, Training & Documentation:
Serve as a primary contact for HRIS questions and end-user support; create training materials and deployment documentation; communicate system changes clearly to stakeholders; provide guidance on Workday Recruiting, Talent, Learning, and Onboarding; support change management and user adoption through training and partnership.
Reporting, Data Integrity & Compliance:
Support HRIS reporting, auditing, and data validation; maintain data integrity through regular reconciliation; assist with security administration and access controls; document system changes and testing outcomes to maintain audit readiness and transparency; adhere to policies and data governance standards.
Project Coordination & Continuous Improvement:
Support project planning, milestone tracking, and cross-functional coordination for HRIS initiatives; collaborate with vendors and internal teams on implementation, enhancement, integration, and issue resolution; pursue continuous improvement for HR processes, system usability, service delivery, and user adoption; stay current on Workday functionality and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
Three (3) or more years of experience supporting HR technology platforms in a systems, analyst, consulting, or HR operations environment.
Experience supporting Workday implementation, optimization, configuration, testing, deployment, or post-production support.
Experience supporting one or more HR functional areas (Recruiting, Talent, Learning, Onboarding, Core HCM, Compensation, or Benefits) preferred.
Experience with business process analysis, workflow optimization, system testing, defect resolution, and UAT preferred.
Experience in a complex enterprise or healthcare environment preferred.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with attention to data integrity; ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Knowledge of HRIS platforms (Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar); experience with reporting, dashboards, data validation, security concepts, and integrations; familiarity with process mapping and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Agile).
Strong written and verbal communication skills; high discretion and confidentiality.
