WXLV/WMYV – Winston Salem/Greensboro, NC. We are seeking a full‑time Broadcast Engineer who will serve as the primary liaison among the engineering team, leadership, and station personnel. The role involves maintaining computers and servers for television transmission and video automation, as well as providing hands‑on support for all broadcast equipment.
Responsibilities
Maintain and repair station broadcast and supporting equipment; provide support for servers, network security, and network services.
Assist with transmitter maintenance.
Provide PC/Mac hardware and software support for on‑site workstations (installing, servicing, updating, and repairing).
Address maintenance and repair requests as required.
Respond to facilities maintenance issues, including HVAC, plumbing, and grounds.
Handle unexpected or late‑night engineering emergencies at the station.
Act as the subject‑matter expert and point of contact for all equipment and technology matters, staying up to date on industry standards.
Provide additional support in the absence of the Chief Engineer to all staff, leadership, and onsite engineering team.
Implement, install and maintain engineering systems and provide end‑user support across all departments.
Requirements
Associate’s degree or higher in IT, electronics, or computer‑related field.
2–4 years of related broadcast experience.
Team‑oriented attitude and dedication to quality.
Strong familiarity with Microsoft, Mac and Linux operating systems.
Knowledge and competency in core hardware and computer system technologies, including installation, configuration, diagnostics, preventive maintenance and LAN/WAN networking.
Proficiency in troubleshooting problems and responding quickly under pressure.
Excellent communication skills.
Previous experience as a Master Control Operator is preferred but not required.
Valid and unencumbered driver’s license.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
On‑call duty, including weekends and holidays.
Ability to lift computers and equipment generally less than 50 pounds.
Must work at the TV station regularly.
