Senior Paid Search Specialist
Location: Oakland, CA office and remote work, preference for Oakland area but open to U.S. remote candidates.
About this position
H/L is looking for a Senior Paid Search Specialist. This hands‑on role requires deep knowledge of paid search best practices and strategic leverage on behalf of insurance clients. Responsibilities include campaign setup and optimization across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads, using tools such as Search Ads 360, and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Manage setup and optimization of SEM campaigns across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
- Monitor reporting and analyze campaign data to maximize revenue and ROI.
- Identify search category trends and provide insights for landing page strategy.
- Use test‑driven marketing strategies to improve messaging, positioning, and budget optimization.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop and test new strategies.
- Engage with industry partners (Google, Microsoft, etc.) and ad products.
- Forecast revenue and pace for weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals by product and campaign.
- Serve as main point of contact for client, internal departments, and third‑party providers.
- Assist with bidding strategy and goal implementation for client campaigns.
- Attend weekly meetings and provide updates on KPIs, performance, launches, traffic changes, and other details.
- Manage team tasks in Asana based on meeting notes and communications.
- Develop and deliver presentations, business cases, and performance reports.
- Present search campaign results to internal and external client teams, explaining performance and recommendations.
- Mentor Search Specialists, providing strategic guidance and feedback.
- Share industry news, online marketing trends, tools, and key learnings with the team.
- Meet quarterly with Search Manager to set goals and pursue projects for growth.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience managing paid search media across Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
- Strong knowledge of all search platforms and history of managing media buys exceeding $1 million annually.
- Understanding of best practices across Google and Microsoft Ads.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively with remote team members.
- Adaptability to a fast‑paced environment with competing deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
- Passion for multidisciplinary media channels integration.
- Meticulous, conscientious, and operates with urgency.
- Comprehensive understanding of all digital media disciplines.
- Client‑centric mindset.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to mentor and train search specialists under managerial guidance.
Benefits
Annual salary range: $80,000–$90,000. Compensation determined based on scope, experience, budget, internal equity, geographic location, and market data. Outside California, compensation varies by location.
