We are seeking an Area Sales Director (ASD) to develop and manage sales activities within an assigned area while providing field‑based leadership to Regional Sales Directors and Account Managers. The ASD will drive performance through strategic leadership, talent development, coaching, and operational oversight to ensure sales goals are consistently achieved across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity to support an innovative organization focused on advancing treatment options in the fibromyalgia space.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure sales goals are consistently achieved
  • Recruit, hire and manage a high performing team
  • Create and drive area strategy and short‑term tactics to achieve business goals in a timely manner
  • Work in the field with Regional Sales Directors to counsel on their coaching skills to guide their team on improvement of their skills, product knowledge, and capabilities needed for successful representative development and maximum goal achievement at the territory and regional level
  • Build strong client and cross‑functional relationships
  • Cultivate a strong and engaging culture within the Area
  • Monitor data analytics information (trends and activity) continuously to ensure full utilization of available resources and tools for maximum impact on prescribing providers while constantly looking for opportunities to improve
  • Drive regional plan for Pharmaceutical Field team to provide education and awareness on Fibromyalgia and other therapeutic areas as applicable
  • Set a positive tone and high standard for professionalism, accountability, collaboration, and compliant business execution
  • Support Regional Sales Directors in design of regional business plans and employee development plans
  • Organize employee training, conferences and regional meetings
  • Work with Regional Sales Directors to share success stories and adapt best practices with the district and across the nation
  • Communicate with key leadership regularly (written and verbal) to update on project performance, gain feedback, build relationships, and network to identify future opportunities
  • Attend National and Regional congresses as assigned
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, and Market Access on a regular basis

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated track record of successful pharmaceutical sales leadership, including achievement of sales objectives and team development
  • Ability to recruit, retain, and develop a high‑performing team
  • A strong understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries
  • Lead a team and promote account management skills, including the ability to work an account to gain access and support pull through
  • Product launch experience
  • Draw appropriate conclusions using sales and call reporting data
  • Interpret and use data to build positive results
  • Strong collaborator with cross‑functional teams
  • Dedicated team player who is able to withstand the high demands of a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including overnight travel, using all means of transportation as required
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and mobile technologies
  • Experience in fibromyalgia, rheumatology, neurology or pain management preferred

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS degree, preferably in life sciences or business administration) from an accredited College or University required. MBA preferred.

Experience Requirements

7+ years of pharmaceutical sales management experience.

Compensation

The base pay range for this position is $215K – $250K per year. The final compensation offered to a successful candidate will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, internal equity, and business needs.
