Community of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitehouse, Ohio, member of the Northwest Ohio ELCA Synod, is actively seeking one or two music professionals to serve as music director/organist/choir director. Candidates should be eager to share their talents with our congregation, provide opportunities for various levels of participation in the music of our church and facilitate the growth of our music programming. Hours, compensation and continuing education opportunities will be determined commensurate with final determination of roles and responsibilities.
Community of Christ, founded in 1974, is a growing and engaging Lutheran church in Whitehouse, Ohio. We are a congregation of 801 members with an average weekly attendance of 342. We are a singing and musically focused congregation which values the traditions of Lutheran hymnody and worship while also being open to the changing landscape of church music in the 21st century.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency on the organ and piano.
- Musically lead and inspire our congregation at the 8:00am and 10:00am Sunday worship services as well as at our additional weeknight services that correspond to the Advent and Lenten church year calendar.
- Facilitate growth of music programming through ensembles, solo opportunities, community concerts, and collaboration with musicians inside and outside of the church membership.
- Oversee the music offered for weddings and funerals as needed.
- Tend to the administrative tasks of our music ministry.
