About the Role
Canon U.S.A. in Melville, NY is looking for a creative, strategic, and high‑energy Social Media Specialist (Specialist, Social Media) to join the Social Media and Content Strategy team. The ideal candidate lives and breathes social trends, understands the nuances of different platforms, and has a keen eye for the visual quality that the Canon name represents.
Responsibilities
Content Creation & Strategy: Assist in the end‑to‑end development of high‑impact paid social ads and organic content across all major social channels.
Cinema Community Management: Take lead on managing our cinema‑focused Instagram handle and engage with the professional filmmaking community.
Trend Analysis: Proactively brainstorm and execute content based on trending concepts, sounds, and cultural moments.
Growth & Expansion: Contribute to data‑driven growth plans for TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest and Threads.
User‑Generated Campaign Management: Oversee our user‑generated social campaign, review submissions and manage social promotion strategies.
Product Launches: Provide critical support during product launch cycles, ensuring social teasers, announcements, and educational content are executed flawlessly.
Ambassador Social: Support the social promotion of the Canon Explorer of Light program.
Cross‑Functional Social Support: Collaborate with the broader marketing team to support marketing efforts for key products through strategic social funnels.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience required, plus 3‑5 years of professional social media experience (agency or in‑house).
Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of the social media landscape, specifically algorithms and best practices for TikTok and Instagram.
Niche Knowledge: Passion for photography and filmmaking; familiarity with cinema‑grade equipment and the professional production industry is a significant plus.
Creative Eye: Ability to identify high‑quality visual assets and understand the aesthetic standards of the Canon brand.
Analytical Mindset: Comfortable using social analytics tools to track growth and pivot strategies based on performance data.
Communication: Exceptional writing skills with the ability to shift tone from "playful" and "trendy" to "professional" and "technical".
Salary: $66,300 - $81,550 annually.
Workstyle Description
Hybrid – full time; in‑office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday with option to work from home for the remainder of the week unless business needs require additional in‑office attendance.
