The Opportunity
As a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you will support the mission of Student Affairs by providing marketing and communication services that ensure future students, current students, faculty/staff, and the Washington State University (WSU) community are aware of opportunities that enhance the student experience. This includes coordinating the day‑to‑day marketing and communication operations, developing and implementing annual marketing plans, and building collaborative working relationships with departments within the Division of Student Affairs. Additionally, you will be responsible for leading 50% FTE staff involved in marketing and promotional activities.
Additional Information
This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. The position is overtime eligible. It is 100% in‑person and located in Pullman, WA. Non‑local candidates will need to relocate.
Monthly Salary
Marketing and Communications Coordinator 1: $3,581 to $4,771 (Range 40, Steps A-M)
Marketing and Communications Coordinator 2: $4,216 to $5,666 (Range 47 Steps A‑M)
Marketing and Communications Coordinator 3: $4,653 to $6,259 (Range 51 Steps A‑M)

Required Qualifications
Level 1
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or a related field; OR Four years of writing/editing experience; or equivalent education/experience.
Level 2
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or a related field AND one (1) year of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Level 3
A Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, or a related field AND three (3) years of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Preferred Qualifications (all levels)
Demonstrated experience planning and implementing marketing, communications, and promotional strategies using a variety of channels and mediums including web, social media, print advertising, promotions, outreach, and public relations.
Demonstrated experience writing professional communications pieces including newsletters, press releases, articles, and blogs.
Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and implement them into creative marketing strategies.
Master's degree in business, communications, marketing, or a related field.
Experience training and directing the work of other employees.
Background Check
This position requires a background check because it requires access to children or vulnerable adults, engages in law enforcement, requires security clearance, interacts with WSU students in a counseling or advising capacity, has access to personal identifying and/or financial information, unsupervised access to university buildings/property, or other business‑related need. A background check will not be completed until an initial determination of qualification for employment has been made.
