Social Media Specialist

Position Summary
This recruitment will fill one (1) part‑time (up to 24 hours per week) Social Media Specialist for the Department of Public Health / Human Science Administration at Oregon State University (OSU). The Social Media Specialist creates engaging social media content that highlights the OSU student experience and supports the College of Health’s marketing and communication efforts. The position focuses on producing videos, photos, and short‑form stories that showcase student life, academics, research, and community engagement. The role emphasizes authentic storytelling, creativity, and alignment with the college’s brand and voice.

Key Responsibilities

Work with the Social Media Lead to create, plan, and post content.

Follow TikTok and Instagram best practices for style and length of content.

Create and publish short videos that appear on the College’s social media channels.

Monitor key metrics using reporting tools and create performance reports.

Assist with graphic design (social media, digital signage, flyers).

Assist with other digital media and marketing projects as needed.

Maintain compliance with OSU brand guidelines.

Required Qualifications

Comfortable and confident being on‑camera.

Willingness to experiment with video techniques and be outgoing.

Willingness to share personal student experiences.

Own a smartphone capable of recording short videos.

Academic enrollment in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.

Meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.

Meet applicable minimal enrollment standard: high school student (regularly enrolled), undergraduate/post‑baccalaureate student (6 credit hours per term), undergraduate international student (12 credit hours per term*), graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School (5 credit hours per term), graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School (9 credit hours per term*).

Preferred Qualifications

Active personal accounts on Instagram and TikTok.

Demonstrated experience with short‑form videos.

Experience with digital video editing tools.

Experience with Adobe platforms (Premiere, Express).

Active in clubs and activities.

Interest in health and well‑being promotion.

Ability to work a full 20 hours per week.
