Overview
Yale School of Nursing seeks a dynamic, self‑motivated individual with experience in website administration and specifically social media. Under the direction of the Associate Dean and Interim Director for Marketing Communications and in close partnership with the Assistant Director, the Social Media Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the School’s social media platforms and assists with the YSN website maintenance (nursing.yale.edu). The role includes overseeing the planning, organization, and publishing of all social media content, monitoring web traffic, creating reports for senior leadership, and contributing to a website overhaul and social media strategy refinement. The ideal candidate is technologically savvy, highly collaborative, has a keen visual sense, and strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, manage, and execute a strategic social media content calendar across platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook).

Create engaging posts, including copywriting, basic graphic creation, and light photo/video editing.

Monitor platform analytics to track performance, identify trends, and produce regular reports with insights and recommendations.

Maintain and grow social media communities through active engagement, timely responses, and audience interaction.

Collaborate with communications, marketing, admissions, and academic teams to highlight priorities, events, and key initiatives.

Manage social media coverage for events, announcements, and institutional milestones.

Ensure all content aligns with brand standards, tone, accessibility requirements, and institutional policies.

Stay informed about emerging platform features, algorithm changes, and best practices to optimize reach and engagement.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience managing social media for an organization, brand, or institution.

Strong writing and storytelling skills tailored to diverse audiences and platforms.

High proficiency with scheduling and analytics tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social, native platform analytics).

Familiarity with basic design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and photo/video editing.

Ability to plan, shoot, and edit short‑form video content is a plus.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of experience in website design, production, marketing, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
