BDP Edinburgh Fringe Artist in Residence
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest performing arts festival, previously serving as a launching pad for legendary shows like SIX, FLEABAG, STOMP, ROSENCRANTZ AND GUILDENSTERN ARE DEAD, and more. Benson Drive Productions is making its Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut this year with STEVE BURNS: ALIVE and we are taking along three artists in residence to experience the Fringe for their first time, too.
This August, Benson Drive Productions is bringing
three US-based artists
who have never been to the Edinburgh Fringe before to the 2026 Festival! Each artist (selected via Open Call) will receive
travel
to/from Scotland and
accommodations
in Edinburgh from August 3-30, a $500
ticket budget
to immerse themselves in the Fringe ecosystem, as well as a
$3,000
commission to allow them to create their first Fringe piece throughout the month that will be presented as a Work in Progress showing during the final week of the Fringe.
This residency is open to solo artists of all types in the performing arts including–but is not limited to–playwrights, comedians, performers, composers, devisers, dancers, clowns, and cabaret artists. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe official Fringe programme categorises shows into sections for theatre, comedy, dance, physical theatre, circus, cabaret, children’s shows, musicals, opera, music, spoken word – if you feel you can create a piece that fits within one of these categories, we encourage you to submit. All applicants must also have a valid US passport and be available to be in Scotland from approximately Monday, August 3 – Sunday, August 30.
The deadline to submit is 11:59pm EDT on Sunday, June 14.
For more information, and to submit, please visit https://www.bensondriveprods.com/effair.
Benson Drive Productions’ 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Artists in Residence program is supported by Carson Gleberman and Underbelly.
