Role Description
The Designer II will contribute to project design and documentation from concept through construction, working closely with senior architects and project managers. Responsibilities include developing design drawings, 3D models, and presentation materials; preparing construction documents; and assisting with code research, coordination, and specification support. The role involves collaborating with consultants and internal teams, participating in site visits, surveys, and construction administration tasks, and helping resolve design and technical issues. The Designer II will also support historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects, ensuring alignment with project goals, budgets, and schedules. This is a full-time, on‑site role based in Baltimore, MD.
Qualifications
Professional experience in architectural design, including concept development, schematic design, and design development for a range of project types.
Proficiency in architectural drafting and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and familiarity with presentation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office).
Knowledge of building codes, construction detailing, and documentation practices, with the ability to support coordination with engineering disciplines.
Experience or strong interest in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and projects in urban or sensitive contexts.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field; progress toward professional licensure is preferred.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas clearly to project teams, consultants, and clients.
Eligibility to work on‑site in Baltimore, MD, and to visit local project sites as needed.
