Job Summary
The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining internal communication materials that support the credit union’s objectives, enhance employee engagement and reinforce Wright‑Patt Credit Union’s purpose, mission, and values; this includes but is not limited to short form written communications, optimization of the department’s use of Microsoft 365 (inclusive of SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Forms, and other software/applications), and light graphic editing.

Responsibilities

Managing the internal communications process (60%) – With support from and in collaboration with the Director of Corporate Communications, responsible for WPCU’s internal communications process, including content creation, content planning, and intranet management.

Content creation – Writing engaging, grammatically correct internal communications and creating graphic components when visuals better convey a message.

Content planning – Populating and managing an internal content calendar aligned with departmental and organizational goals.

Intranet management – Front‑end management of WPCU’s SharePoint‑based intranet, “PartnerNet,” including reviewing and editing content, posting/publishing timely, reader‑friendly content, managing the lifecycle of existing content, and overseeing departmental pages. Tasks include training staff to manage their own pages, quality control, optimizing page structure, navigation, and features to enhance user experience, in partnership with IT.

Incident communications – Managing WPCU’s internal outage and alert system, monitoring incidents, creating, reviewing, editing, targeting, and sending content in real‑time.

Internal digital signage – Managing content for WPCU’s internal digital screens; creating a calendar, graphics, and ensuring content is current.

Microsoft 365 use optimization (20%) – Championing the use of MS 365, identifying, building, and implementing ways to utilize Power Automate, Forms, SharePoint lists, etc. to minimize manual communications processes, staying current on new features, and sharing best practices.

Other departmental support as assigned (15%) – Supporting Marketing with additional tasks, projects, and initiatives as needed.

Risk mitigation (5%) – Ensuring proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed, reporting gaps to leadership.

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Communications, English, Business, or related field with 5 years of experience in an office environment; marketing or internal communications experience is a plus.

Strong written communication skills.

Ability to learn new technologies.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.

Experience with Power Automate is a plus.

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva is a plus.
