Job Overview
The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and maintaining internal communication materials that support the credit union’s objectives, enhance employee engagement and reinforce Wright-Patt Credit Union’s (WPCU) purpose, mission, and values. This includes short‑form written communications, optimization of the department’s use of Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Power Automate, Forms, and other tools), and light graphic editing.
Responsibilities
Managing the internal communications process (60%)
Content Creation – Write engaging, grammatically correct content for internal campaigns, communication needs, and partner engagement, including the creation of graphics when visuals enhance the message.
Content Planning – Populate and manage an internal content calendar aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
Intranet Management – Front‑end manage WPCU’s SharePoint‑based intranet, “PartnerNet,” including:
Posting and publishing timely, reader‑friendly, error‑free content.
Managing the lifecycle of existing content.
Overseeing departmental pages, training department designees, ensuring quality and brand adherence, and optimizing page structure and navigation with IT.
Incident Communications – Manage the use of WPCU’s internal outage and alert system, including real‑time monitoring and creation, review, editing, targeting, and sending of content.
Internal Digital Signage – Manage content for WPCU’s internal digital screens, including content calendar, graphics creation, and ensuring up‑to‑date material.
Microsoft 365 Use Optimization (20%) – Champion MS 365 tools to work smarter, not harder.
Identify, build, and implement ways to utilize Power Automate, Forms, SharePoint lists, and other MS 365 applications to minimize manual processes.
Stay current on new MS 365 features relevant to communications and productivity.
Share MS 365 best practices with Corporate Communications, Marketing, and the wider organization.
Other Departmental Support as Assigned (15%) – Support Marketing with additional tasks, projects, and initiatives as needed.
Risk Mitigation (5%) – Ensure proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed; report gaps to leadership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
BA or BS degree in Communications, English, Business, or a related field with 5 years of office experience; marketing or internal communications experience is a plus.
Strong, demonstrated written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies as they emerge.
Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
Previous experience with Power Automate is a plus.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva is a plus.
