Director, Business Transition Advisor / Business Transition Strategist

General Function
As the Director, Business Transition Advisor, you serve as the primary Business Transition expert within the Business Transition Advisory Team, working directly with high net business owners and closely held business entities to provide professional business transition consulting and advisory services through the development, delivery, and implementation of a customized transition strategy pre‑through post‑transaction. You will collaborate with Wealth Management Advisors, Commercial Relationship Managers, and Investment Bankers to expand One Bank opportunities, ensuring risk management, compliance, and a positive customer experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

Play a major role in the sales process to acquire significant relationships and achieve annual AUM and fee sales goals, identifying business transition opportunities for review and discussion with clients and their advisors.

Work closely with business‑owning clients and prospects on all aspects of business transition planning from the business and personal perspectives, developing and managing a transition pipeline to achieve financial and client experience goals.

Coordinate a One Bank team approach in client and prospect transition planning processes.

Educate advisors on business transition topics, trends, and issues, and develop collateral internally and externally for advisors, clients, and prospects.

Create brand awareness and consideration through strategic business development activities and published thought leadership.

Provide subject matter expertise in complex tax consulting.

Attend community and industry‑specific forums, conferences, and meetings to broaden relationships, network, and deepen knowledge of trends, practices, products, and competitors.

Participate actively in professional associations.

Supervisory Responsibilities
May directly supervise planning analysts. Provide employees with timely, candid, and constructive performance feedback, develop them to their fullest potential, and build a capable talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Bachelor’s degree required; JD or LLM preferred.

Deep expertise in tax, trust & estate planning – CPA, CFP, or Trust Certification preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of related Investment or Client Service experience with commercial C‑suite, business owners, or high net worth clients (e.g., investment management, trust, legal, or accounting).

Experience with sophisticated business transitions of companies with EBITDA >$5M.

Maintain strong relationships with business partners, including Wealth and Asset Management, Regional Leadership, LOB Leadership, and Wholesale Bank through communication and education efforts.

Exhibit a sense of urgency and a continual drive to results while partnering effectively with management at all organizational levels.

Display the ability to be highly effective in a team‑oriented environment.

Demonstrate superior interpersonal negotiation, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills.

Use effective leadership, problem‑solving, and analytic skills.

Computer/Technical: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CoPilot).

Working Conditions

Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature variations, and the like.

Extended viewing of computer screens.

Travel required 45%.

Compensation and Benefits
Total Base Pay Range: $121,900.00 – $262,100.00 USD annually. The base salary reflects the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skill set, education, experience, and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business, and/or individual performance.
