Job Summary
Provides and oversees the communications for University Information Technology (UITS) division's projects and services. Engages in university-wide communications and social media groups to track evolving trends and adopt best practices. Plans, creates, and implements institution-wide communication campaigns as well as creates, edits, and disseminates written communications. Responsible for designing and developing print and digital materials via email, social media, campus webpages, digital signs, flyers, and/or posters. Supports and develops learning opportunities within UITS division for staff, engagement, recruitment and retention programs, initiatives, and processes.
Responsibilities
Manages all day-to-day activities for division communications
Drafts, edits, and disseminates written communications and designs print and digital materials for student, faculty and staff audiences via email, campus webpages, digital signs, social media, video, flyers, posters, and other media content as needed
Serves as a marketing spokesperson for the division at campus events
Supervises assigned staff and/or student workers
Maintains, develops, and communicates services and programs to relevant stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff
Collects, analyzes, and reports data regarding the effectiveness of communication campaigns
Develops and proposes institution-wide communication campaigns, plans to ensure alignment with strategic goals and audience needs
Collaborates with external university units on projects and services as needed
Organizes, coordinates, and manages department promotional presence at campus events
Designs and develops professional presentations for leadership
Selects user groups to evaluate and test new and current software and services
Supports innovation, engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies
Develops and supports division staff engagement and talent development
Measures effectiveness of communication strategies for IT services
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's from an accredited institution of higher education in related field.
Required Experience: Five (5) years of experience in marketing, communications, or related field to include at least three (3) years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, with specific focus on InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Spark.
Advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
Abilities
Able to convey technical information to audiences with limited technical experience.
Able to learn new learning technology systems quickly.
Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
Able to prioritize schedules.
Able to engage in community outreach through organizations, conferences, and other events.
Able to speak and present professionally in a public forum.
Knowledge and experience in project management.
Knowledge of communications processes and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Spark).
Skills in digital and print design.
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette.
