Job Summary
Provides and oversees communications for the University Information Technology (UITS) division’s projects and services. Engages in university-wide communications and social media groups to track evolving trends and adopt best practices. Plans, creates, and implements institution-wide communication campaigns and develops, edits, and disseminates written communications. Designs and develops print and digital materials via email, social media, campus webpages, digital signs, flyers, and posters. Provides learning opportunities within UITS for staff engagement, recruitment, retention, and professional development.
Responsibilities
Manages all day-to-day activities for division communications.
Drafts, edits, and disseminates written communications and designs print and digital materials for student, faculty, and staff audiences via email, campus webpages, digital signs, social media, video, flyers, posters, and other media content as needed.
Serves as a marketing spokesperson for the division at campus events.
Supervises assigned staff and/or student workers.
Maintains, develops, and communicates services and programs to relevant stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff.
Collects, analyzes, and reports data regarding the effectiveness of communication campaigns.
Develops and proposes institution‑wide communication campaigns, aligning them with strategic goals and audience needs.
Collaborates with external university units on projects and services as needed.
Organizes, coordinates, and manages department promotional presence at campus events.
Designs and develops professional presentations for leadership.
Selects user groups to evaluate and test new and current software and services.
Supports innovation, engagement, recruitment, and retention strategies.
Develops and supports division staff engagement and talent development.
Measures effectiveness of communication strategies for IT services.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
Five years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, including at least three years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Spark.
Advanced degree in a related field.

Knowledge and experience in project management.
Knowledge of communications processes and procedures.
Skills
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills.
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position, including Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
Skills in digital and print design.
Strong attention to detail and follow‑up skills.
Strong customer service skills and phone and e‑mail etiquette.

This is a supervisory position.
This position has no financial responsibilities.
This position does not require driving.
This role is not considered a position of trust.
This position does not require a purchasing card (P‑Card).
This position may require travel 1% – 24% of the time.
