About the Position

Designation: Executive Producer/Host (X16 position)

This role blends editorial leadership, audio engineering, digital storytelling, and on‑air performance in a dynamic public media environment. The host/presenter leads the daily production of local news and infotainment programming across radio, podcast, and digital platforms, collaborating with a team of producers, editors, and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce assigned daily radio programs end‑to‑end: booking guests, scripting, timing, directing, and coordinating live broadcasts from start to completed product.
  • Develop compelling show topics, segment ideas, and story angles in partnership with hosts and editorial leadership.
  • Write all show content including billboards, tosses, rejoins, closings, and promotional material.
  • Host radio programs or segments as assigned, delivering content with professionalism, authority, and audience awareness.
  • Arrange and conduct interviews with guests, contributors, and community members.
  • Operate the control board during live broadcasts and support other productions as needed.
  • Record, edit, and mix audio to professional broadcast standards.
  • Edit recorded programs for podcast release and upload finished episodes with complete metadata.
  • Troubleshoot technical and production issues during live and recorded productions.
  • Maintain flexibility for breaking news, live events, and shifting production priorities.
  • Complete administrative duties including quarterly reports, SoundExchange reporting, and production documentation.
  • Coordinate guest communication, answer phones, and provide general production support.
  • Take on operational supervisory duties as needed.
  • Have reliable personal transportation.

Requirements / Basic Qualifications

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-6 years of experience.
  • Experience in radio, podcast, multimedia, or digital content production.
  • Strong journalism background with sound editorial judgment and news instincts.
  • On‑air hosting or announcing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Willingness to work any time‑slot, including early mornings.
  • Reliable personal transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education in journalism, media production, communications, or a related field.
  • Proficient with audio production software, broadcast equipment, and video editing platforms.
  • Experience working with on‑air talent, contributors, and interview guests.
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in the media industry.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to deliver content under deadlines.
  • Comfortable with public speaking and community engagement.

Required Skills

  • Familiarity with livestreaming tools and remote contribution systems.
  • Working knowledge of public media production standards and practices.
  • Understanding of video production and editing.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
