Designer II
This mid-level designer is responsible for creating marked drawings, model development, and other documents for equipment and device layouts and branch circuiting for power, lighting, and auxiliary drawings. The position includes calculations and documentation for lighting and power systems and details required to clarify design intent. The role is supervised moderately by a Designer III, Engineer, Engineer of Record, Engineering Team Lead, or Director of Engineering.
Responsibilities
Assemble a complete symbols list and common project notes from the REI Standard relevant to the project.
Mark up branch circuit lighting and power plans and fill in panel board schedules with moderate accuracy.
Perform Energy Code calculations, documentation, and local jurisdiction energy requirements with little supervision.
Apply and perform Rosendin standards for wire sizing, transformer feeders, and protection from published schedules.
Calculate power loads, size feeders, and determine the estimated demand load summary for a distribution system under direction of a Sr. Designer or an Engineer.
Direct and coordinate signal and low voltage subcontractors with other trades such as architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, vertical transportation, kitchen equipment, and OFCI systems.
Create details as required to define installation for construction.
Provide the design lead function for small jobs.
Review manufacturer submittals for electrical characteristics.
Layout Electrical Room, including clearances, with minimal oversight.
Other responsibilities may be assigned as per business unit role.
Qualifications
Teamwork and productivity.
Requirements
Some college or technical training in engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 2 years of experience as a Designer.
A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Travel
Up to 15% (does not include local field visits).
Working Conditions
General work environment includes sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; primarily indoors with conditions such as fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
Noise level is usually low to medium; can be loud on job site.
