Broadband Specialist I (Field Technician)
Position Overview
As a Broadband Specialist I, you will be primarily responsible for new installations of cable television and broadband services. Your day-to-day duties will include driving a company van, visiting customer homes, and representing Mediacom in person. You will install, change, and disconnect service, collect payments, and address customer inquiries related to installation.

Position Responsibilities
Complete single or multi‑unit exterior and interior drop installations from tap to antenna terminals.
Perform new connections, reconnections, disconnects, add outlets, install/remove converters, and execute service upgrades or downgrades.
Analyze picture quality and determine acceptability of delivered cable service.
Use hand tools, connectors, fasteners, and wire; read signal levels with a field strength meter and adjust as necessary.
Climb poles with proper safety gear, ladders, or other structures.
Lift and carry up to 100 lbs.; work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces.
Maintain and use a VOM or DMM to check for open/short circuits and voltage levels.
Read drop system layouts from blueprints.
Educate customers on FCC rules and company policies.
Drive company vehicles and use bucket trucks in the course of duties; perform vehicle upkeep and maintenance.
Generate additional revenue through sales techniques and by offering product information, sales campaigns, and promotions.
Assist with clean‑up, salvage of damaged materials, and general support duties as directed.
Adhere to applicable codes, requirements, guidelines, company procedures, and safe work practices to provide an outstanding customer experience.
Position Requirements
No experience required.
High school diploma or GED required.
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required.
General mechanical and consumer device knowledge.
Strong communication skills with customers and coworkers.
Ability to work in tight or confined spaces.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and at various heights.
Flexible work hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Physical Requirements
Frequent handling of heavy objects (approx. 50–100 lbs.) and use of heavy hand tools.

Salary
The salary range for this position is $17.00 – $18.50 per hour. When making a job offer, we consider factors such as years of related work experience, relevant skills and qualifications, education level, and certifications/licenses.
