What We Need
We are seeking a skilled Reporter and Broadcast Producer to assist with the creation of material for KFBK programs. Responsibilities may include research and development of news stories, writing scripts for broadcast segments, scheduling and conducting interviews, coordination with talent and producers to find story leads, and serve as point person for fill‑in needs within the newsroom/station.
What You’ll Do
General assignment reporter/anchor: deliver newscasts; announce scripts and audio gathered around selected news events, including traffic, weather, sports.
Conduct interviews and compose audio segments – write, review and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre‑recorded reports, contests, etc.
Serve as first in line for fill‑in producing, anchoring, reporting.
Handle emergency and/or breaking news.
Help generate content for social media and digital platforms.
May be responsible for operating the control board for studios and remote programming.
Monitor the technical quality and accuracy of incoming and outgoing on‑air programming from the master control room.
Check studio equipment for proper functioning and notify Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting broadcast quality.
Protect the station’s license.
Other reporter duties assigned as needed by the news director or station manager.
What You’ll Need
Socially informed and perceptive; up‑to‑date and in tune with local and national trends and/or specialized knowledge of topics/events related to on‑air discussions.
Pleasant, charismatic and well‑controlled voice; excellent pronunciation and professionalism.
Conformable with live radio programming and able to deliver information to mass audiences in an easy‑to‑understand way.
Well‑rounded communication skills for conducting interviews and asking the right questions.
Excellent writing and editing skills; proficient in grammar.
Proficient in media production and broadcast systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and social networking.
Work Experience: 1‑2 years’ experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station environment.
Education: 4‑year college degree, preferably in Communications or Journalism.
Certifications: None required.
Compensation
Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications, and alignment with market data.
$20.00 – $25.00 per hour.
