Account Manager, Internal Sales — Pharma & Medical Device Portfolios

Reporting to Senior Manager, the Account Manager is responsible for managing and retaining a portfolio of accounts across Wiley's Pharma and Medical Device portfolios, driving revenue growth through relationship building, strategic account planning, and consultative sales approaches.
Job Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of 100–200 accounts with responsibility for revenue targets and renewal rates
Develop and execute strategic account plans, setting goals and revisiting strategies throughout the year
Analyze customer usage data and performance trends to understand account health and proactively address issues
Renew and renegotiate agreements, managing paperwork and compliance requirements — including U.S. healthcare advertising regulatory and compliance standards
Identify and pursue cross‑selling opportunities based on institutional and corporate research needs, spanning journal advertising, ePDF placements, email campaigns, and multi‑touch digital solutions on the Wiley Online Library
Leverage Wiley's health sciences portfolio of 430 journals across 37 specialties, including partnership journals aligned with pharma client messaging
Articulate Wiley's value proposition to pharma media buyers and marketing teams, drawing on data such as 8.8million unique monthly visitors to Wiley's medical content and the insight that HCPs are five times more likely to notice an advertisement on a journal platform versus a pharma‑sponsored channel
Research customer organizations (medical affairs, publications, marketing, brand teams) to understand their pipeline stage and tailor solutions across the full drug development lifecycle, from awareness and consideration to selection and prescribing behavior
Build and expand relationships with key stakeholders at client organizations, including agency contacts and third‑party media buyers
Execute data‑driven negotiations that deliver successful agreement outcomes, including demonstrating ROI through engagement metrics, click‑through rates, and campaign attribution tools
Maintain accurate records in CRM systems and provide regular forecasting
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including customer success, sales operations, and editorial
Represent Wiley at U.S. healthcare and pharma industry conferences and events
Liaise with agency contacts frequently, including pharma media planning agencies
Required Qualifications

4‑year undergraduate degree
Prior experience hitting targets and managing strategic accounts, ideally within healthcare publishing, pharma media, or health advertising
Experience in complex selling situations, including navigating U.S. healthcare advertising compliance requirements
Ability to diagnose institutional and corporate subject‑level research and marketing needs across pharma and veterinary sectors
Ability to identify and manage cross‑selling opportunities across print, digital, and multi‑touch advertising formats
Strong email/written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage one's own book of business
Proven success in exceeding financial sales goals using a consultative sales approach
Hunter mentality with strong emphasis on revenue growth
Preferred Qualifications

Salesforce proficiency
Sales methodology training
Familiarity with U.S. pharma advertising standards and industry bodies
Understanding of HCP engagement trends and pharma digital media landscape
