Job Title:

Associate Designer – Knitwear/Sweaters

Location:

New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)

Duration:

3 Months Contract (30 hrs./week)

Pay Range:

$25 to $35/hr.

Overview
We are seeking an Associate Designer to support the development of knitwear and sweater collections from concept through production. This role collaborates closely with Merchandising, Technical Design, and Production teams to deliver trend‑right, commercially viable products.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in designing sweaters, including yarn selection, stitches, patterns, and silhouettes

Create sketches and technical flats using Adobe Illustrator

Develop stripes, jacquards, textures, and stitch details

Support tech pack creation, including yarn, gauge, construction, and measurements

Review samples and knit downs to ensure design accuracy

Participate in fit sessions and track updates

Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors

Conduct trend and market research focused on knitwear

Maintain PLM data, design files, and development timelines

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field (preferred)

1–3 years of apparel design experience, preferably in knitwear/sweaters

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop

Knowledge of knitwear construction, including yarns, gauges, and stitches

Experience with tech packs and sample development

Strong organizational and communication skills

Portfolio required (knitwear work preferred)

Nice to Have

Experience with PLM systems

Familiarity with tools such as Miro

Exposure to AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Vizcom)

Interest in menswear trends
